About Kamino
Kamino is a financial management platform that combines robust software with a built-in bank account and credit card. It focuses on small and medium businesses, offering solutions that automate payments, reconciliation, and financial controls. This lets CFOs and finance managers step away from operational tasks and focus on business strategy.
Fernando is Kamino's Head of Data and played a key role in implementing Erathos. With extensive industry experience, he led the transition of the data infrastructure to a more efficient model, letting the company focus on strategy and innovation instead of operational maintenance.
The challenge
Before implementing Erathos, Kamino faced challenges around data ingestion and maintenance. The data team had to handle multiple sources, such as HubSpot, Heap, Jira, and other external APIs, building pipelines manually. This demanded significant time for development, maintenance, and fixing failures, and made it harder for the team to scale.
On top of that, the previous infrastructure, based on Azure Data Factory, generated high costs. At one critical point, once the credit period ended, infrastructure costs reached US$20,000 a month, making the search for a more efficient, affordable solution urgent.
The solution
Erathos was implemented as the primary data ingestion solution for the tools used at Kamino, letting the team stop worrying about extracting and maintaining data. Today, Kamino uses Erathos to pull data from LinkedIn Ads, Jira, HubSpot, Facebook Ads, Intercom, and Google Ads, centralizing its data in Google BigQuery.
With an intuitive interface and automated alerts, the platform ensured pipelines ran reliably, without the need for constant manual intervention.
Today, Kamino moves approximately 100 million rows a month through Erathos, with more than 140 pipeline jobs running daily. Any reprocessing need can be resolved directly via Slack, eliminating time spent debugging, checking logs, and reconfiguring scripts. On top of that, Erathos's flexibility let new connectors be added quickly, keeping up with the company's changing needs.
"Erathos brought an insane productivity boost. Today, we don't worry about data ingestion. The team is focused on business strategy, not pipeline maintenance anymore. Implementing a new connector takes minutes, and the platform's reliability means errors are practically nonexistent. If you're on the fence, don't be. It was one of the best decisions we've made."
Fernando RozencwejgHead of DataThe results
- Drastic cost reduction: Migrating to GCP and implementing Erathos cut infrastructure costs by more than 90%.
- Operational efficiency: Before, building a pipeline manually took up to a week. With Erathos, the same process now takes minutes.
- Strategic focus: Kamino's data team stopped acting as "firefighters" putting out pipeline fires, and started focusing on company strategy, improving data quality and analytical models.
- Reliability: Errors related to data ingestion and maintenance were practically eliminated. When failures do occur, they're generally external API issues.
What's next
With the partnership between Kamino and Erathos, the company was able to transform its data operation, cutting costs and gaining efficiency. Now the team can focus on innovation and growth, ensuring decisions are based on reliable, always up-to-date data.
