About Kamino
Kamino is a financial management platform that combines robust software with an embedded bank and credit card. Its focus is on small and medium-sized businesses, offering solutions that automate payments, reconciliations, and financial controls. By doing so, Kamino enables CFOs and finance leaders to move away from operational tasks and focus on business strategy.
Fernando is Kamino’s Head of Data and played a key role in implementing Erathos. With extensive industry experience, he led the transition to a more efficient data infrastructure, allowing the company to shift its focus from operational maintenance to strategy and innovation.
The Challenge
Before adopting Erathos, Kamino faced challenges related to data ingestion and maintenance. The data team had to manage multiple sources — including HubSpot, Heap, Jira, and other external APIs — by building pipelines manually. This required significant time for development, maintenance, and troubleshooting, and made it difficult to scale the team.
Additionally, the previous infrastructure, based on Azure Data Factory, was costly. At a critical moment, following the expiration of cloud credits, infrastructure costs skyrocketed to $20,000 per month, creating an urgent need for a more efficient and affordable solution.
The Solution
Erathos was implemented as the primary solution for data ingestion across Kamino’s toolset, allowing the team to stop worrying about extraction and pipeline maintenance. Today, Kamino uses Erathos to pull data from LinkedIn Ads, Jira, HubSpot, Facebook Ads, Intercom, and Google Ads, centralizing everything in Google BigQuery.
With its intuitive interface and automated alerts, the platform ensures that pipelines run reliably without constant manual intervention.
Currently, Kamino processes around 100 million rows per month through Erathos, with over 140 pipeline jobs running daily. Any need for reprocessing can be handled directly via Slack, eliminating time spent on debugging, logs, and script reconfiguration. Additionally, Erathos’ flexibility made it easy to add new connectors quickly, meeting the company’s evolving needs.
Results
Drastic cost reduction: Migrating to GCP and adopting Erathos reduced infrastructure costs by over 90%.
Operational efficiency: Previously, building a pipeline manually could take up to a week. With Erathos, the same task is done in minutes.
Strategic focus: Kamino’s data team no longer acts as "firefighters" fixing pipelines. Instead, they focus on data strategy, improving data quality, and enhancing analytical models.
Reliability: Data ingestion and maintenance errors have been virtually eliminated. When issues do arise, they typically stem from external APIs.
Thanks to the partnership between Kamino and Erathos, the company has transformed its data operations — cutting costs and gaining efficiency. Now, the team can focus on innovation and growth, ensuring that decision-making is always driven by reliable, up-to-date data.
